With the Apple AirTag, you'll never have to search for your stuff again. You can attach the AirTag to your keys, your pet, your suitcase or you can put it in your bag, for example. The location of the AirTag automatically appears on the map in the 'find my' app, where you can also see all your other Apple devices.
Play sound
Forgot where you left your wallet? No problem if an AirTag is attached. You can play a sound through the built-in speaker. Go to the new 'Items' tab in the 'Find My' app or say 'Hey Siri. Find my wallet†. If the AirTag is somewhere nearby, for example under the couch or in the room next to you, you only have to go for the sound.
Accurate navigation to your AirTag
If your AirTag is nearby, your iPhone can direct you there with 'Precise Search'. Thanks to the built-in Ultra Wideband technology, you can see exactly which direction you need to go and how far.
Accurate search can be used with:

Helping hundreds of millions of people search
If you left something in a completely different place, such as on the beach or at the gym, you can track down your AirTag using the 'Find My' network, which consists of hundreds of millions of iPhones, iPads and Macs all over the world. Your privacy is protected on all fronts.
How does it work?
The Apple AirTag transmits a secure Bluetooth signal, which can be picked up by devices in the 'Find My' network. They send the location of your AirTag to iCloud. You can then see where that is on the map in the 'Find my' app. This entire process is anonymous and encrypted to protect your privacy. It works very efficiently, so you don't have to worry about your battery life or data usage.
Lost Mode makes it easier
Just like with your other Apple devices, you can enable Lost Mode for AirTag. You will then automatically receive a notification as soon as the AirTag is detected by a device in the network. You can also set people to receive your contact information as soon as they tap your AirTag with an NFC-enabled smartphone. That's the same technology used to pay with your phone.
Your privacy is always protected
You are the only one who can see where your AirTag is. Your location data and history are never stored on the AirTag itself. Devices that transmit the location of your AirTag also remain anonymous, and that location data is encrypted from end to end. So even Apple doesn't know the location of your AirTag or the identity of the devices that help with the search.
Battery you can rely on
AirTag lasts up to a year on a standard battery that you can easily replace. Your iPhone tells you when it's time for a new battery.
Water resistant
Say there's an AirTag on your keys and you drop them (oops) in a puddle. Or you spill something on it. No problem. Your AirTag is water resistant.
